My name is Kristen Cushman and my husband is Jason Cushman; owners of Hand Made Wine Barrel Gifts.
My husband and I stumbled across the idea of making gifts and decor out of recycled wine barrels after getting an idea (from Google Images). The idea was to make a 19 foot train out of recycled wine barrels for my front yard. Originally we got our wine barrels from Santa Rosa and with the help of my visiting mom we got to work, and after creating this cute train and a couple of Christmas gifts for family members I showed off our work.
I contacted the man who sold me the wine barrels and he said with my entrepreneurial spirit and craftsmanship we could sell our creations and would succeed at it. Needles to say we went back to Santa Rosa for many more wine barrels and got to work. We started at the beginning of October 2011 and by November we entered our first craft fair in our home town of Orland, Ca. I was so gratified by all of the positive feed back. It reassured the fact that these creations were new and unique to countless people.
We do not have a store, but there is a small store here in Orland that carries local artisans and Unique craft's called the Rusty Wagon. Numerous of our smaller items are available for purchase at this store. Orders can be made through our contact page for larger and smaller items.
